Access Control is the prevention of illegal physical access to any prohibited area. This can be achieved by the dual use of electronics and computer software. An electromagnetic lock is used to secure the premise. The lock is opened when a legal occupant used a proximity card to unlock the door. The same unlocking can be done by the use of biometric traits like fingerprints, contour of palms and iris scanning.
The access control in a bank can be installed in the teller areas, vault rooms and the branch manager’s cabin. Also regional, zonal and head offices along with the bank databases can be brought under its purview.
